What is a conservation dog?
A Conservation Dog is a dog that is trained to work in the natural resource field. These dogs do a variety of tasks. Some dogs are used for their natural abilities to guard or perform breed specific tasks, but the bulk of work in this field is sent detection.
How can a conservation dog help you?
Conservation dogs rely on scent to find the item you are looking for. Dogs brains can distinguish scents 40 times greater than humans. This allows them to find things that we cannot smell. They can accurately find things that we may need specialized equipment to find or have to send to a lab for processing to detect.

Moon Dog Consulting and Services have been training and working with conservation dogs since 2002! We have worked in wildlife management of predator species, waterfowl, and more! Our dogs work as a team with the handler to detect and collect data.
Moon Dog is currently training a new pup and we have two semi-retired dogs who still assist on job from time to time.
Our capabilities are increasing as we work with local partners.
